TrAFFIC STOP & RACE DATA
In accordance with Sec. 26. 20 V.S.A. § 2366, state, local, county, and municipal law enforcement agencies are required to submit traffic stop and race data to CRG on an annual basis. The data is due on September 1. The data is required to be posted electronically in a manner that is analyzable and accessible to the public. Each agency is required to work with the Criminal Justice Training Council toward the goals of collecting uniform data, adopting uniform storage methods and periods, and ensuring that data can be analyzed.
Note: The data on traffic stops and race are provided here in separate data sets for each law enforcement agency. Because the data sets provided were from two different records management systems, it wasn’t possible to collapse the data into a statewide data set. Caution should be taken when reviewing the data sets as they may contain missing data, different time-frames, coding differences, and small sample sizes. Here is a list of factors that affect the validity of the data.
